I have been told that Harivansh Rai Bachchan wrote this poem when his wife expired. I am supposed to confirm this and am not sure where I can find details about this, but the fact of the matter is, this is a piece of gem and I am sure that this would be on top of my mind for a long long time to come. And since I tend to recommend very fwe things, I would say if anyone is feeling down at any point of time, PLEASE PLEASE go and read Jo Beet Gayi.

Mrs Teji Bachchan just dies recently, so I dont think Mr Bachchan wrote this poem for his living wife
Since Tejji Bacchan died after him… It cud’nt be true tht he wrote it after his wife’s death… But its beautiful poem nevertheless.. Hi, this is to clarify that when it is said that he wrote this poem when his wife died, it is in referece to his first wife Shyama, who died in 1936 and not about Teji Bachchan, who passed away in 2007.
Teji Bachchan was the second wife of Mr. Bachchan and he married her in 1941.
teji bachaan was his second wife
This poem was written by Mr. bachan when his first wife was dead. Teji was her second wife.
